Stress and Your House!
I believe that your house, the purchase of it and the living in it can be very stressful so I am going to share my best stress reducers with you today:
1. Get away on a special vacation, even if you can only go for a few days. Right now flights to Europe are running $147 roundtrip to Dublin and $168 roundtrip to Paris for crying out loud. Who can be in stress when you are at the Musee d’Orsay! It is the one where they have the Modernists and the Impressionists. The old train station that was turned into an art museum. Go for coffee on the St. Germain des Pres and definitely go to Les Deux Magots. Sit at a sidewalk table and look directly above you at the sign: Jean Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir Square. You are sitting right where they used to do the battle of the sexes with words. And did they fling a few! It is way cool. You will totally forget all of your house troubles.
2. Do something sweet for your loved one. Some aromatics at one of those great soap stores? You could do massage for hours with some of that stuff.
3. Cook dinner together. Plan it together, chop the salad together, prepare the steaks together and eat it all in front of a great movie. “The Red Violin” is a great one for this activity. Been there, done that, great reviews.
4. Walk your dog. You both need the exercise.
5. Pray. Go to a closet to pray. The Pharisees prayed out in front of everyone making spectacles of themselves. Close a door and pray in private. Does wonders.
6. Go visit someone you know who is sick or dying. This will really give you some perspective on your house escrow. Especially if you have to go to a hospice program to see them. This can clear out your stress for months.
7. Call your Realtor and check in with her. She can give you updates and progress reports and even meet you for Starbucks if you wish. I work 24/7 as I never want folks to be stressing out over their transaction. It is not worth it to be losing sleep over.
8. Go see a great movie or rent one. Do popcorn on the floor with the dog.
9. Take deep breaths, like yoga. Stretch and breathe. Clear out the cobwebs from your mind. Go listen to some college professor give a lecture. That should clear out the cobwebs and stress.
